Saalt

  • Starline Social Club

Saalt is the musical creation of Alisa Saario and bandmates Tyler English (Everyone Is Dirty, False Priest) Brent Curriden and Nick Moore, who are both in Cave Clove with Saario. Now based out of Oakland, Saario's Pacific Northwest upbringing seeps into her gloom drenched vocals with catchy swells and heavy hitting. With bass-driving melodies, the music is low-end heavy while simultaneously swept away by the full and ambient vibrations of pedal steel. With intricately detailed drum beats and twinkling guitar licks, Saalt is a transportive experience into a slow burn of cathartic musical dreaminess.

Nathan Blaz

We are pleased to announce Nathan Blaz as our musical guest for this week! Nathan Blaz is a cellist and composer based in Oakland, CA. He studied cello and music synthesis at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2006, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he became a founding member of the indie rock band Geographer. He recorded and toured with the band for eight years. In 2013, he formed systemritual, an experimental dance/minimal synth duo with video artist Elia Vargas. The project constructs improvisational performances using analog modular synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines, with live visualizations and processing. Nathan's improvised solo performances explore the relationship between psychoacoustics, rhythm and tonality.
